In addition to suction and air pressure, other
products offers more than just vibration to find the
perfect combination for customers seeking new
types of pleasure.
The Sonic Revel Body stimulators made their
debut in the early part of the decade, thanks to a
successful fund-raising campaign on Indie-gogo.
The Seattle-based company (which is no longer
in operation) broke onto the scene with the orb-
shaped sonic vibrator, touting the Revel Body as
one of the first major developments in vibrator
technology in almost 50 years.
“We realized the majority of devices in this
big, competitive industry all use the same class
of rotary motors, and basically all experienced
the same issues,” said Robin Elenga, founder and
CEO of Revel Body, said at the time. “Companies
compete on everything from color and shape to
packaging and price, but never vibration. Yet
vibration is the primary function of these devices.
We knew we could build a better motor and
product that together, would offer users increased
sensation and a better experience overall.”
Unlike traditional rotary motors, which typically
vibrate at a range of about 60-100Hz, Revel Body’s
TrueSonic resonating motors provided a wider
range of vibration—adjustable between 24-
200Hz—and more power than a battery-powered
vibrator. With only a single moving part, TrueSonic
motors were designed to be quiet and efficient,
lasting at least four times longer than traditional
rotary motors.

stimulation, LELO earlier this year debuted
the Sona and Sona Cruise, massagers that can
stimulate up to 75 percent more of the clitoris
without actually touching it.
Instead of vibration, which focuses attention
on the external nerve endings, Sona uses
sonic pulses that resonate deep in the internal
structure of the clitoris. The feeling the Sona
produces is described by the manufacturer as
same principle as when users go to concert and
stand in front of large speaker, feeling the music
as if it is inside the body. The Sona features a
sonic pad that oscillates back and forth, creates
sonic waves. The waves mean Sona never needs
to directly touch the clitoris.
The Queen Bee—the first product for women
from Hot Octopuss, makers of “guybrators,”
including the Hot Octopuss and the Pocket
Pulse—uses oscillation with the manufacturer’s
PulsePlate technology.
“The patented PulsePlate technology which
the Queen Bee is famous for, was originally
used in the medical realm to help penis owners
with spinal cord injuries produce children,”
explained April Lampert, head of global sales
for Hot Octopuss. “The medical tech produces
very powerful oscillations which can bring
about ejaculation even in people with no
sensation or mobility below the waist. Hot
Octopuss developed the Pulse masturbator in
2013 utilizing this technology for civilian use,
and it is one of the most advanced penis toys
on the market with thousands of happy users
all over the world. HO developed the Queen
Bee to offer vulva owners the same oscillating
PulsePlate technology as there was a demand
for something outside of the typical vibrating
products which have been around for decades.
“The Queen Bee offers oscillations, which
are great for drawing blood flow to an area,
without creating numbness, and penetrating
deep into the tissue of the body, which means
epic orgasms,” Lampert continued. “The
incredible thing about Queen Bee is that it
can actually gyrate the pelvic floor and create
G-Spot stimulation externally, something totally
unique and not available in any other vulva
inspired product. I think this alone is something
that can change the sex life of the end consumer
as most folks haven’t even tapped into G-Spot
play. Using the Queen Bee during penetrative
sex with a penis-owning partner will result in
the deep oscillations being transferred to the
penis too. Furthermore, the fact that Queen
Bee’s oscillating motor limits numbness means
