Different Strokes
Among the first major changes in clitoral stimulation was
the result of a contest sponsored by Lovehoney in 2009. The
Sqweel was the brainchild of Trevor Murphy of Toronto, who
created the hand-held case that houses a wheel decorated
with 10 silicone tongues. The product was a hit worldwide,
and made international headlines in newspapers, magazine,
TV shows and movies.
The previous year, in 2008, Je Joue entered the world of
pleasure products manufacturing with the SaSi. The Sasi
combined a lay-on vibrator with a metal ball inside that
moved and rotated, offering at the time the closest sensation
to that of the tip of the tongue.
One of the biggest changes in clitoral stimulators in recent
years has been the introduction of air—pulsating jets and
puffs of air that stimulate the clitoris.
Satisfyer, a company from Germany, entered the North
American market with its second product, the Satisfyer
Pro 2, which features pressure wave stimulation and 11
programs of stimulation. The waterproof stimulator has
silicone heads that are easy to clean and change out.
“Satisfyer’s success in Germany was based on a very
high demand for this new toy category, but at a fair price,”
explained Jerome Bensimon, vice president of sales for the
company, at the time. “The only alternative was really pricy
and out of reach to most end customers. We’ve decided to
take a different approach and make sexual wellness affordable
to most of the women.”
Now, the Satisfyer Pro 2 – Next Generation is here. The
new button design opens the door to a realm of multiple
orgasms; fitted with a +/– button, users can increase or
decrease the intensity as required. The button light is not as
bright as the previous version and is thus less conspicuous.
Satisfyer uses its patented air Pulse technology in a range
of products for women and couples. The company also carries
the Partner Plus, which comes with a remote control to
control the stimulation. And most recently the manufacturer
utilized the technology for the Satisfyer Men, its first product
designed for the penis.
“This product offers us a chance to reach a new client
base,” Bensimon said. “And with a price of $39.95 it makes it
easy for more people to afford a quality toy.”
Womanizer made waves when its flagship product hit the
scene. “In a scientific study regarding orgasms, the founder
Michael Lenke read that more than 50 percent of women
have problems climaxing. As an inventor, he wondered
how he could solve that problem,” said Mara Rosenbauer,
communications director for Womanizer. “During his market
analysis, Michael realized that there had been no new or
innovative inventions for a hundred years. Furthermore, most
of the sex toys focused purely on internal stimulation, even
though most women only experience clitoral orgasms. That
was the moment Michael decided to change this and the idea
for the Womanizer with its Pleasure Air Technology was

born. In the end, it took Michael 18 months to create the first model of the
Womanizer. But it was worth it because it revolutionized the entire market.”
The core of every Womanizer product—which now includes the Pro,
the Pro 40, Starlet and more—is Pleasure Air Technology, which was developed
to gently and indirectly, stimulate the sensitive nerve endings of the clitoris,
Rosenbauer said. Womanizer products suck and massage using changes in air
pressure, which in turn helps many women reach climax in a short amount of time,
oftentimes several times.
“Unlike traditional products, stimulation is not achieved via penetration or
vibration and it feels totally different,” Rosenbauer said. “Furthermore, the product
focuses on the clitoris. And studies prove that nearly 70 percent of women have
clitoral orgasms.
“Womanizer has changed the industry by showing that it is possible to create a
new and innovative sex toy that provides the vast majority of women with orgasms
in a very short time,” she continued. “Nothing similar to this had existed before
Michael Lenke’s invention. The stimulation approach of Womanizer simply works
for almost every woman. We often get emails or letters from women in the age of
25, 42 or 60 who had the first orgasm in their life with one of our products. That
makes us incredibly happy and is why Womanizer is so revolutionary.”
Rosenbauer said those who have never tried a Womanizer are in for a truly
unique experience. The company’s website notes it can take a few tries for users to
get used to the product, but it’s very user-friendly.
“Every woman will be able to find the right model: Whether it is our newest
product, the Womanizer Premium, that has the innovative functions Smart Silence
and Autopilot, or the Womanizer Starlet, which is the perfect entry-level model,”
she said. “To conclude, we would simply like to say: Have fun!”
