PRIMARY SELECTION
Casey Calver t explores ties that loosely bind
The back yard of a gracious vintage home in the
San Gabriel Valley has been turned into a hipster cafe
where two separate conversations are about to unfold.
The underlying topic at both tables: what it means to
be in a polyamorous relationship. But though this is
technically an adult movie, there’s little talk about sex.
Instead, this movie directed by Casey Calvert for Lust
Cinema is about boundaries and priorities. Hence its
title: Primary. This refers to one’s principal partner—a
fixture in some, but not all, poly relationships.
Ana Foxxx is playing Abigail, who is married to
Parker (Derrick Pierce) and is having lunch with her
husband’s girlfriend, Melissa (Penny Pax). But this isn’t
a showdown.
“We’re both married women. I’m unhappily married
to Steve,” Pax explains. “He’s just not doing it for me.”
