DV Productions
Shortly before the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in January, Evil Angel added adult per-
former/director Dana Vespoli’s DV Productions to its distribution roster. Vespoli, who’s been
directing for various companies since 2006, has always had a distinct style, which leans toward
edgy fetishy BDSM-tinged sex wrapped in intriguing story lines.
“I think my aesthetic fits well with the other [Evil Angel] directors, but, as a woman and one
who shoots her own camera, I bring something unique to the table,” Vespoli said. “I suppose by
virtue of being a female I bring a female perspective, although I don’t know what that means. My
niche has mostly been vignette movies with darker storylines, as well as POV-type scenarios where
I interact from behind the camera. I have a strong fetish bent to a lot of my work, and favor
strong sex and anal. At the same time, I do like to see tenderness and intimacy in my movies.”
Vespoli exhibited her trademark directorial sensibilities in her first movie for Evil Angel,
Forsaken, starring Ash Hollywood as a girl who wakes up in the woods with blood on her dress,
but has no wounds, no memory of who she is and sets off to solve the mystery. The movie also
features Samantha Ryan and Manuel Ferrara.
Exile Productions
“After directing Super Porn 1 and 2, I decided to start my own line,” legendary supersalesman
Howard Levine told us. “So what I did was come up with a line of movies that is strictly for jack-
ing off. If you’re looking for a movie that’s got high romance in it, go rent Titanic; you’re not
going to find it in my movies. In fact, there’s a warning label on each of these movies, in case peo-
ple aren’t familiar with my kind of movies, which says, ‘This movie will cause extreme erections, and
if you have an erection lasting over four hours, fuck calling a doctor; call everyone you know.’”
Exile’s first movie is My Mom Is A Whore, starring Adriana Deville, Diana Doll, Ciera Sage and
Alana Evans, while the second one is Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon, starring Sandy Sweet,
Madison Ivy, Eve Nicholson, Sabrina and Madison Scott.
“They’re both from an unnamed director who’s pretty famous in our business, who wishes to
remain anonymous,” Levine said, but considering that the studio under which both movies are
being released is “Howilu,” which Levine says is “very much like Desilu,” there might just be a
clue there to that director’s identity. Let the search begin!
Forbidden Fruits Films
Jodi and Jay West may not be the best-known couple in adult at the moment, but if the success
of their relatively young production company, Forbidden Fruits Films, keeps up the way it has,
that could change sooner than someone announces a Jodi Arias porn parody.
“In the last 10 years, I haven’t seen anything like it,” said Howard Levine, whose Exile
Distribution began carrying Forbidden Fruits late last year. “The line has taken off like crazy. [Its
initial] four titles sold out in two weeks, which is unheard of.”
Perhaps Forbidden Fruits’ runaway success can be attributed to the unique subject territory of
its output, which Jay West describes as “realistic characters when bad judgment and un-quenched
lust crashes into opportunity.”
Put another way, the sort of topics little broached in porn since the infamous Taboo series of
the Golden Age—as exemplified by one of Forbidden Fruits’ hottest sellers to date, Mother-Son
Secrets.
The studio has consistently been releasing two titles per month, with a projection of upping
that number to three beginning this summer.
