 “ImaybethefaceofFabScout,butit’s never about me.”
“A lot of it also came from referrals from other people, studio referrals as well, and from me going to award shows and things like that. Then I met Chi Chi (LaRue), and my eyes were opened to a whole new side, because I realized it’s not just the grunge work of meeting new models and going out there and constantly pounding the pavement. There’s a part of this industry that’s fabulous, there’s a part of the industry that’s all about creating a family and being part of a family. And that kind of changed the outlook a little. Then I met Adam Q. Robinson, and realized that everybody’s not out there to make a dollar, that people can actually give a shit.”
Over the years, Andrew estimates he has placed more than 7,500 models for at least one gig, developing long-lasting relationships with many of them—earning him a reputation as an honest, hard- working businessman, mentor and friend. “I’m stubborn. I think the reason this company has been so successful this long is because I actually care. You know, I could have taken my business a different way numerous times, and I could have done things very differently.”
For him, the real success stories are not the big movie bookings or any awards, but instead giving a chance—and hope—to someone who needs it.
“The special moments are when I look up and I know I’ve saved somebody’s life. I look up and I know that this person was a drug addict living on the street, and now he’s a success. Or someone like Drake Jaden, who is a huge success story in my life. When I met him, he was this little guy who was a bar-back in Tampa, and now he is a doctor specializing in infectious diseases. He’s very huge in his field right now,” Andrew says with pride. “Many other models have been homeless or have been kicked out of their houses, or they’re in rehab or jail, and I’m able to help put them back on their feet. I don’t claim to be a saint, but wherever I can help somebody, I certainly put on my cape and play the superhero role.”
It’s that family atmosphere that has endeared him to an ever- growing list of performers who have used FabScout to further their careers.
“I’ve probably got about 30 guys that call me ‘dad’ right now. I’m constantly in touch with several of my models’ parents and grandparents. I have one model right now whose family changed his birth certificate to put me down as his godfather. I’ve been there for him, and now he’s been sober for two years. That’s become a passion of mine, to help protect as many as I can, and to fix as many broken pieces as I can,” Andrew says. “I may be the face of FabScout, but it’s never about me.”
