Angel, Albrite to Host 2016 AVN Awards
curvy
One is a
all-natural
blonde with
a winning
smile who’s known for her
powerful hardcore scenes.
The other is a heavily
tattooed performer who’s
been lauded for both sexual
prowess and acting chops
in such quirky alt-porn pro-
ductions as Evil Head, Band
Sluts and Walking Dead: A
Hardcore Parody. And they’ll
be appearing together as the
2016
AVN Awards Show co-hosts.
Waitaminute ... wasn’t
that 2015?
Well, yes and no. This
year the beautiful porn
goddess is Anikka Albrite
and the inked adult thes-
pian is Joanna Angel—two
performers who, like Alexis
Texas and Tommy Pistol,
offer a combination of talent,
sexy appeal and star power
that will fuel the show on
January 23, 2016.
Angel has been on stage
multiple times, both as a
presenter and an award
winner, and last year served as the backstage host. But even more than
her achievements as a performer, she is known as the co-founder of
BurningAngel, an adult studio and membership site.
“The first AVN I attended was 10 years ago—my website was brand
new, I barely knew anyone in the industry,” Angel said. “A friend of a
friend got me a ticket and it truly was a life changing moment for me. To
think of all the events that
have transpired from then
till now to get me where I
am today ... it just doesn’t
feel real. I am so thankful
for this opportunity—I’m
thrilled and excited, and
I hope to be the best host
there ever was! Excluding
Tommy Pistol, because
that’s just impossible.”
Albrite has also spent
a fair amount of time on
the AVN Awards stage,
winning three awards in
2014. The following year
Albrite racked up five
wins, including the adult
industry’s top honor:
AVN Female Performer
of the Year—which was
announced just moments
after husband Mick Blue
was crowned Male Per-
former of the Year.
“It was a huge honor
to have been given the
title of Female Performer
of the Year for 2015, and
never in my dreams did I
think I would be chosen
for hosting the awards for
2016,” Albrite comment-
ed. “I’m really honored
and excited and very nervous. I can’t wait to host it with Joanna—I’ve
never worked with her before but I’ve always admired her, so it’s going
to be a lot of fun to get up there on the stage with her.”

change. Last year, as always, AVN added some new cate-
Never let it be said that the AVN Awards team is afraid of
gories and tweaked others. But more significantly, for the
first time content released solely on VOD was eligible for
AVN Awards consideration. Now, AVN is taking another
step toward greater inclusiveness by opening up four high-profile scene
categories to include content released solely for membership sites.
This change is being made to better reflect what should be the most
important concern in judging an award-winning sex scene: the skills of
the director and the performers, rather than how the scene reaches fans.
In these four categories only, AVN will now accept pre-nomina-
tions of scenes produced for release on membership sites:
Best Boy/Girl Sex Scene
Best Girl/Girl Sex Scene
Best Oral Sex Scene
Best Anal Sex Scene
“This is a step we have thought through very meticulously and
from every angle possible, and we feel certain that now is the time to
implement it,” AVN senior editor Peter Warren said. “There has been

a fundamental shift in the way both industry members and consumers
think about how the core element of adult entertainment—sex scenes—
most commonly reach their audience. These being the four most basic
and popular types of sex scenes, we felt they were the ones to best lead
the way for the AVN Awards in this key transition.”
As with all contests, some restrictions apply. See below for details on
eligibility for the 2016 AVN Awards.
Eligibility Period:
To be considered in any of the video categories, including the afore-
mentioned scene categories, a title and/or scene must have been made
available commercially during the eligibility period, which runs from
October 1, 2014, to September 30, 2015. If a scene in one of the four
eligible categories is released as both a standalone web scene and as an
entity of a movie released either on DVD or VOD, the scene will by de-
fault be considered an entity of the movie. For consideration in all other
categories, a movie must be released in its entirety as of September 30,
2015. Any scene individually considered for a 2016 AVN Award will be
void from consideration in all future years if included as an entity of any
movie released after September 30, 2015.
