“I’m honored to be a Falcon man...”
When DeAngelo Jackson won Performer of the Year at the 2021 GayVN Awards, his first thought—and his first words—were for someone else: “I am sharing this award with my brother Max Konnor...I wish I could give Max a hug right now.”
Immediately after the virtual ceremony, Konnor picked up his phone and furiously speed- dialed his friend. He recalls what he said in an angry voice, as if talking to someone who was in trouble: “I was like, ‘If you ever do that again... take your flowers, bitch! Take it! Don’t throw it on me! This is about you—this is your award! You deserve it!’” Konnor laughs. “A lot of people don’t know this: I’ve known DeAngelo for over 10 years. When I first started in porn, the first scene I ever did was for FlavaWorks with DeAngelo.”
The two lost touch for a while, but when they finally reconnected Konnor recalls the shock on his friend’s face.
“He was just so amazed at how I looked. Some people call it a transformation, but I don’t call it that. I just say that I grew up. Of course, when he first met me, I was like this little naïve twink just trying to make some money to pay rent. And the transformation in his eyes was just so amazing. He told me, ‘I look up to you and try to take your example.’ And I said, ‘I look up to you, too, because you’ve been in this game for a very long time.’ I love DeAngelo—that’s my broski.”
It’s hard to argue with Jackson’s admiration—and he no longer has to share anything, as Konnor won Performer of the Year in 2022. That marked the culmination of a very busy few years for the performer: In early 2020, he was named the first ever CAM4 male ambas- sador (and currently does up to four live shows a month); he was named a Fleshjack Boy that summer, and had a replica sleeve and dildo released (yes, he has DP-ed someone with his dildo and his actual dick, thank you very much Aiden Ward); and in late 2020 he was named a Falcon|NakedSword exclusive
“I have been doing this thing as Max Konnor now for almost four years, and I think about my three-year mark, I kind of decided, ‘OK, I’m probably never going to be exclusive with anyone because I’ve worked for everybody’—and at the time I thought was oversaturated in the market. So I was very surprised when Howard my manager called me and was like, ‘Hey, Falcon wants to sign you as an exclusive.’ I was like, ‘...what?! OK...’ And so we started banging out details and I eventually signed, which was great for me... I’m honored to be a Falcon man.”.
