“I was always a ho.”
It’s an ailment Luke Truong has had to deal with his entire life. Thankfully for him, it has worked to his advantage.
“I constantly smile. Even when I’m working out. I’ll be at the gym and I’ll be smiling, and it’s not because I’m happy—it’s because it hurts. That’s just the way my face goes—into a permanent smile,” he laughs. “It’s like the opposite of resting bitch face—it’s resting smile face, unfortunately. It’s just like my default face, even during sex when I’m yelling ‘Fuck me harder! Come on!’ I can’t stop it. It just happens. I just like being myself, and in general I’m very bubbly. If I had to play a serious role in a scene, it would be the strangest thing for me: ‘I can’t smile?! Fuck ’em!’”
Born in Vietnam, Truong came to the United States when he was 1 and has lived in Orange County his whole life. The second oldest of six siblings, “I just did my own thing. I was a happy kid; I kind of went to the beat of my own drum.”
And, by his own admission, “I was always a ho.” Truong started filming his own sexual escapades, which eventually found their way onto Tumblr. When he realized he could make money with that talent, it was a game changer. “I kind of just ended up here. I watch a lot of porn and jerk off a lot to it, so I’m like, ‘What would I jerk off to?’ That’s porn I want to make,” he says. “What I try thinking about when I do porn is, ‘This is my sexual journey. If you guys want to follow me, great!’”
But as his success grew, so did his awareness of how important his voice was.
“There are not a lot of Asian porn actors out there, maybe only a handful that you can really name. It’s important being able to represent that minority and show younger gay men that, ‘Hey, you don’t need to be white to be sexy.’ Or, ‘Hey, I kind of look like you and these really hot dudes will fuck me,’” he says.
