“As a performer, I feel like I’ve just
gotten more comfortable.”
It probably comes as no shock that Josh Brady is pretty chill about
his coming out story.
“My mom found out and informed the rest of the family about me on
my behalf—like, ‘Guess what I found out?’—and had to vent because
she did not handle it well,” Brady says. “But after all that settled down,
everything was cool. I’m super nonchalant about it in my personal life.
And then getting into porn, I think it helped me become more comfortable
with it, because I was like the ‘straight gay’—like the gays who are
uncomfortable with it, so they just act super straight. But porn helped
me become more comfortable in my own shoes in that sense.”
When he was 18, Brady started go-go dancing for about five years
in California—where he made some friends in the porn industry. He hit
them up when the interest in dancing waned—and has worked at Helix
since 2016.
“I love ’em. I still consider Casey and Alex (Roman) my other dads,
like my family away from my actual family. I’m always happy to come
see all of them.”
And 2020 was arguably his biggest year yet. Brady landed three
scenes—and navigated dialogue with ease—in Happy Campers, and
has quietly become a Helix leading man.
“As a performer, I feel like I’ve just gotten more comfortable. According
to them, I’ve always been good at filming and performing—but with the
time and experience I think has come more comfort doing it, and I think
that shows a little bit. And then personally, I think the most growth has
come in the past year, because previously there was a lot of digression
with everything, like all my drinking getting worse and worse.”
Brady marked one year sober in November, a period during which he
went to school to pursue a passion: music production and composition.
“I think I’m better off, and I feel pretty good about it,” he says. “It was
much needed—I think my life is going in a better direction. Honestly, I
like myself better sober.”
