“Sexually, I got to experience a lot of different men, a lot
of different cultures, a lot of different ways of having sex.
It’s been a learning experience.”
Devin Trez got to experience the world—and the world of men—during
his travels across the globe.
“I have experienced so many different things,” says Trez, who is
originally from Atlanta. “I was in the military initially, so that’s how I had
access to all those different lands and ports. I lived in Japan for like five
years—that was pretty dope.
“I’ll just say this: If you didn’t smarten up and speak the language, you
were going to be eating at McDonald’s all fucking day, all fucking night.
You have to learn the language. I spoke a little bit of Japanese just to
get by. It’s a lot different, so when you want to eat and you want to get
from Point A to Point B, you gotta learn it.”
He continues, “Sexually, I got to experience a lot of different men, a
lot of different cultures, a lot of different ways of having sex. It’s been a
learning experience. And now I’m in Los Angeles and I’m doing porn,
so I get to bring that to the table and it’s pretty cool.”
Trez was working as an artist at an animation house in Atlanta when
a corporate shake-up had him questioning his path. “I made the cut,
but I realized how fragile my job was. So when I was just watching porn
one day, I was like, ‘Let me just try this out. I’ve done everything. I’ve
traveled. I see how fragile and fickle this industry that I’m in currently is,
so why not switch to this and give it a try?’”
He moved to L.A. and has since built up two solid years of work
that has increasingly endeared him to fans and studios alike. All of that
experience has given Trez even bigger goals: “I would love to see more
black directors; it’s been rare that I’ve worked with a black director. I
would love to start directing porn.”
