“I’ve been in the industry for over 17 years, so to still be
relevant after all these years really feels good.”
Cutler X laughs when he recalls his former occupation—a not-so-subtle
foreshadowing of what was to come. It was a career he pursued after
coming out and moving to Seattle.
“I did road construction, underground utilities. And the actual title of
my job—which makes me smile now—was a topman.”
Born and raised in Los Angeles the youngest of six, he credits his
mother with her perseverance after his father died when Cutler was 7.
“My mother worked really hard to keep us together and close as a
family, which she did very successfully. She is my hero,” he says.
Cutler went to school in L.A. and did one semester of junior college
before joining the army for five years, where he “became very religious.”
He went to a Christian college after he left. “I was an ultra-conservative
fundamentalist—the hellfire and brimstone. Believed 100 percent of it.
Became a minister. Pioneered a church in Texas, was married for a few
years. And after that, I came out. I came out to myself, I would say.”
He had dabbled in gay experiences before, but not when he became
religious. After coming out, “my whole reality of being gay kind of started,
and I kind of embraced it with both arms wide open.”
Cutler owned a construction company in Miami, and while on a trip
to L.A., someone suggested he do porn. He dabbled in the industry
starting in 2003, slowly increasing his output over the years until a huge
decision in 2018—creating content for what would turn into CutlersDen.
com, which officially launched in March of 2019.
“I’ve been in the industry for over 17 years, so to still be relevant after
all these years really feels good. It’s heartwarming,” he says. “And being
nominated (for GayVN Awards) speaks to my heart…it makes you know
that, with all the other porn companies that are out there that are working
hard and doing good, that you’re doing something that’s getting people’s
attention—and I like that.”
