“My best friend said,
You’ve always wanted to
do porn … why don’t you
apply with Titan or Colt?”
He has lived one of the most fascinating stories
that gay porn has ever heard, but Dallas Steele
wishes the press did a better job of telling it. He
should know. He was one of them.
“Often, writers make it sound like I just threw up
my hands in the newsroom one day and said, ‘To
hell with this, I’m gonna go do porn!’ No. There
was a five-year span between news and porn.
They say ‘necessity is the mother of invention.’
That’s especially true in my case.”
Steele’s twenty-three-year career in TV ended
when his new director in Naples–Fort Myers,
Florida said his contract would not be renewed.
“They brought my replacement in before I had left
for me to help train him—and surprise—he was
much younger and much cheaper,” Steele says.
Things got worse in 2013 when his partner
died—and his partner’s family took everything.
“My best friend said, ‘You’ve always wanted to
do porn, you’re not going back to TV news, why
don’t you apply with Titan or Colt?’ Scared, but
running out of options, I did just that—and both
companies scheduled me for a shoot.”
From 2015 to 2017, Steele had a career-defining
stretch at Titan—but had to reinvent himself again
when the studio closed its doors. Since then, he’s
shot with Pantheon, Fun-Size Boys, Kink and more.
Not bad for an “old” timer.
“Anyone over forty is pretty much ignored. ... If
you are over thirty-five in porn, you have to work
twice as hard as the twentysomethings.”
