Walking into a nightclub in broad daylight is like being on a dark ride at Disneyland
when it breaks down. The lights come on, and you get to see all the details of how
the ride operates. You know you are seeing something most people never will. As I
headed into the club for today’s shoot entitled No One Walks In Clean, the latest TS
feature starring Blake Lovely, I passed the host stand where my ID would have been
checked and pulled open the heavy glass doors. Normally, I would have been blown
back by pounding music and sweating bodies spilling drinks. Today was very different.
Each section of the bar had been repurposed for a very professional shoot. One area
was makeup, another was for stills, and behind the bar, Eli Cross, the director, was
marking his script on an electronic tablet. “Used to be black and white only; now they’ve
added color,” he says and shows me his red marks, checking off scenes already shot.
My next encounter was with the star, Blake Lovely, who also is the executive producer
of the project. She bounced over to me wearing cowboy boots and a smile. I received a
hug, then we found a place to talk. She is very excited about this movie, which features
five sex scenes, an ensemble cast and an AVN Hall of Fame crew. As we got started,
she slipped into her costume, an espresso-colored mini dress draped with fringe.
Before her move to adult films, she was in a successful indie band. “I moved out to
LA seven years ago. I was with a band, but we disbanded. We ended on such a high
note. It was like the end of a book.” This is why this movie is important to her; she will
perform her own music live.
The script was written by Andre Madness, while Aiden Starr is the director of
photography. The breakdown from Eli is, “It’s a story about a girl seeking stardom
through a major recording deal and another girl whose goal is to sabotage all of her
competitors.”
“I am one of the songwriting contestants,” Blake says. “They narrow it down to a
select few, and they perform live in front of an elite club in Hollywood. Whoever wins
that event gets the career.”
