After some stage-setting establishing
shots of a gone-to-seed country
manor with ominous orchestral
music, an economy car scoots up a
one-lane road under gloomy overcast
skies as the radio announcer says
"It's Halloween this weekend, and you
know what that means..."
A riveting thriller, Ghosted is set
during a haunted-house party where
Jasmine Sherni comes to terms with
getting ghosted by her boyfriend by
hanging out with buddies Frances
Bentley, Yasmina Khan and Juan
Lucho and passing stranger Xander
Corvus, who thought it would be fun to
spend Halloween in a haunted house.
Bentley, Khan, and Lucho explore
the old house (and hook up in a three-
way) before a séance pulls up the
missing boyfrend and a freaked-out
Sherni finds solace with Corvus.
The clever, uncredited script keeps
the viewer guessing until the final reveal,
and director Danny D makes the most
of the setting with creative framing and
atmospheric cut-in shots along with
stylistic flourishes. Recommended.
