Director Mike John may have said it best when explaining why he decided to shoot a scene for Angela White’s new showcase.
“If Angela White calls and you’re a pornographer, you’re taking the call,” he tells me.
John joined fellow elite shooters John Stagliano, Jules Jordan, Jonni Darkko, Chris Streams and Aiden Riley in directing scenes for Fuck Angela—the new passion project from White’s AGW Entertainment that pays homage to the golden era of gonzo.
“I was honored to get invited to that table,” John says.
Mike orchestrated the scene between White and Lexington Steele—both of whom are three-time winners of the AVN Performer of the Year award.
“After I shot that scene I was just driving home kind of flabbergasted, like I can’t believe that just went down,” John continues. “It was I believe a historic event.”
Shot with the Sony VX2000 cameras that powered the early 2000s era of gonzo, Fuck Angela’s old-school aesthetic is a creative departure from anything else on the market today. “They are confident enough to be very open about who they admire and who their influences are,” Mike adds. “Who has the confidence right now to shoot a movie on old, outdated technology? Imagine the investment... I hope they get the credit they deserve for this one.
I think it’s one of the better projects of all time.”
White tells me she wanted to create something that she could look back on and remember
the joy of seeing her friends doing what they love.
“I thought what better way to do this than get an old Sony VX2000, invite my favorite
directors to each shoot a scene, and create a movie that looked and felt like my favorite era and genre of porn: early 2000s gonzo,” Angela says. “In the end, we created a five-hour blend of hardcore and humor, tied together by the fact that everyone in the movie is exactly where they want to be doing exactly what they want to be doing: shooting porn.”
