The 2024 AVN Awards was a record year in many ways. Huge crowds of adoring fans, literally thousands of adult performers and industry professionals attending the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) days before, and historic wins from the best in adult movies.
There was one performer who caught a case of what she jokingly calls “AVN sickies.”
She posted on X to her followers that night of the awards: “I came down with the AVN sickies, so I couldn’t make it to the awards tonight, but I’m so beyond grateful!” In her first interview with AVN since the awards show in Las Vegas on Jan. 27, trans superstar Daisy Taylor tells all about her reactions to winning two of the biggest honors of the night. Taylor won the coveted fan-voted award for Favorite Trans Porn Star and the honor for Best Thespian - Trans/X for her leading role in “Daisy’s Flower
Box” for Aylo-owned imprint TransAngels. Dante Colle and Kane Fox co-starred. “For me specifically, Best Thespian means a lot because I love getting the opportunity to act,” Taylor tells AVN. “It is actually funny to me and to the crew because ‘Daisy’s Flower Box’ was one of those scenes that was truly thrown together—it wasn’t really all that well thought out. I get to have a great collaborative
relationship with the TransAngels team in San Diego, and this is no different.”
Taylor explains that the scene was conceptualized by the TransAngels team as
having herself, Daisy, literally surrounded by daisies.
“He was just like, ‘We are going to make you the flower girl,’” Taylor said of the
scene’s director. “Truly, I think we bullshitted the entire scene. There was no script. There was no planning. The entire thing was improv. I think that is part of the reason why it was successful.”
She continues, “There’s an element of realness, in terms of the acting...We were just having fun and playing around, and I think that ‘go with the flow’ energy comes through the camera.” Taylor’s win demonstrates her range not only as a sexual presence on screen but also as a performer in general. Unfortunately, she couldn’t be there to accept the trophy in person.
“I definitely came down with something,” Daisy says. “But, I was very shocked.”
