As a newcomer to the adult industry, Kellfire is still exploring her place in the business. But as a 30-something new starlet, she’s ready for anything, having already explored mainstream acting, standup comedy and even tech work at a major firm.
“I got my degree and my first job was in search-engine optimization and I was miserable. It’s crazy. But I need that stability. I make good art when there’s stability, but when its fear- based its all downhill,” she said. “But it’s really hard to find jobs where you can have some sense of freedom and stability and that’s the beautiful part of this industry. But in some people’s eyes, it’s the worst thing I could’ve done.”
Having recently shot for TeamSkeet, Kink.com, Cherry Pimps and others, the 5-foot-7 brunette is making inroads in the industry. Thanks to her charm, wit and up-for-anything attitude, Kellfire is finding her niche and filling up her schedule with collaboration shoots and studio work.
“I love the idea of getting to play a certain character and try fuck as that character and that’s exciting to me because when I was pursuing it, I felt like my whole life was riding on it so it kind of perverted my love for it,” she said. “But it wasn’t really there and I was stressed all the time and now I’ve let it go and it’s fun for me again.”
Playing sexy MILF or slutty stepmom comes easy for the eclectic Northern California native. Her passion for her work is part of her love for performing, whether it’s for a sex scene or a standup comedy gig—which she still pursues as evidenced by her recent show in Burbank, Calif.
With parents who built tech careers in Silicon Valley, Kellfire didn’t see herself following in their footsteps after college. She worked in office jobs while occasionally acting and taking improv classes with The Groundlings comedy troupe in Hollywood.
She later gravitated toward sex work via Slushy.com and other platforms where she found an eager fan base that appreciated her wit and unique style.
“I got on Slushy and I started just doing videos because I’ve been doing Instagram videos and standup and I’m always performing in front of the camera,” she said. “I started doing it and it was really empowering and I really kinda liked it and I could see how this could afford me the life that I want.”
By the time she began shooting with studios, she immediately relished the attention and dedication to the work by her fellow performers.
“Some people look at this world and they’re like ‘you’re crazy’ and I’m like ‘I look at your world and I think you’re crazy,’” She said. “I can’t fucking deal with the corporate bullshit and that’s not the life I want.”
As for those who inspire her most, she looked no further than a classic porn figure who continues to influence the industry: “I’m reading a book about Candida Royalle from this woman at Harvard who campaigned to get all her writings and journals to house at the archive at Harvard,” she said. “[Royalle] started off as a performer, but she had a traumatic childhood. But her perception of the industry at the time was mind blowing to me because it has a lot of the same thoughts I’ve have had. They now still tell us that we’re not really as evolved as much as we thought.”
