“I found female sexuality very enticing...”
First things first: Yes, Gal Ritchie takes her name from the director of such pulpy crime romps as Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch—and perhaps at first blush, it may bear a certain degree of throwback porn cornballery—but truth be told, it absolutely fits like a glove.
As Gal, who’s both British and Jewish, explains, “I love Guy Ritchie films. I’m a huge fan of Guy Ritchie. Gal is also a Jewish name, it’s Hebrew—Gal Gadot—and Guy Ritchie is English. So it works on multiple levels.”
Granted, she didn’t dream up the name herself ... rather, it was conceived by George Jiries, the righthand man to storied super-agent Mark Spiegler, who took Gal on after she pursued him with a relentless fervor for months from the tiny English village where she grew up.
“I basically stalked Mark Spiegler for a year,” she laughs. “I looked at every podcast interview, video interview, anything that had his name on it, I have looked at and watched and read and listened to. And so I got in contact with him—I got in contact with him when he was actually in the hospital—so I spoke to George during the COVID times.
“And then after the chaos of COVID happened, I re-reached out—Mark was better,” she continues. “And he’s someone who you really have to, like, bang the door and be like, ‘Hello, I’m interested, I’m interested, I’m interested,’ to show how determined you are. So I did that a couple times, and it got to the point where he said, ‘Look, you seem like you want to do it for the right reasons, but you’re, you know ... in a different country.’
“So I said, ‘I will buy a plane ticket, I will come to L.A., let’s sort out a date. If you don’t like me, I will fly home again. And I did that—I packed up like a week’s worth of stuff, came to L.A. Luckily, he likes me. Thank god.”
Needless to say, Gal most definitely did not just fall into the industry by chance. Quite to the contrary, she recounts, “I always knew I wanted to do something in the adult industry. I found female sexuality very enticing, empowering from quite a young age. So I thought I always wanted to do something that made me embrace my sexuality and my sexual nature as a female.”
Certified Domme though she may be, however, Gal concedes, “Being submissive is way more up my street. I enjoy playing the role and the character of being more in charge, but if I have a choice, I prefer to be the submissive every single time.”
To that end, she speaks of her two shoots for Kink.com thus far with almost rapturous glee: “It was like going on holiday. I love it so much. I came back and Spiegler was like, ‘How was it?’ and I was like, ‘I want to be there every day. Lock me in a cage there and I’ll live there, that’s fine.’ It was amazing.”
Gal’s screen work to date—she considers her official start in porn to be last August, when she moved to L.A.—is hardly all ropes and ball gags, though. She got her first taste of the big-budget feature experience with a pair of scenes in Ricky Greenwood’s Western saga Gold Diggers, which began rolling out on DigitalPlayground.com at the beginning of March.
“It was amazing to watch the production that people do to get those films, because that’s not something I ever thought about, and I’m a big porn fan,” she marvels. “I didn’t think about the features and everything that goes into them. ... That scale of production was really impressive and not something I even thought existed in porn. So that was very eye-opening to me.”
