No one throws a sausage party like Rae Lil Black.
The Japanese content creator hosted one earlier this year, devouring a full tray of four different kinds of sausages and making silly faces the whole way.
She made the ASMR mukbang—a video featuring someone eating large quantities of food, including the sounds—for her unpredictable YouTube channel which had grown to more than 206,000 subscribers at press time.
Wearing earbuds and plastic gloves, our September cover girl munched on vegan chorizo, beef and pork links and then smashed a super-sized sausage, dipping her meat into two different sauces during the 16-minute spectacle.
The video had generated more than 48,600 views on YouTube and 586,400 views on TikTok by late August.
Before her big sausage show, Rae treated herself to pizza, sushi, donuts and croissants in other ASMR mukbangs. She tells me her food frenzies are “love or hate” for her fans.
“I like eating and I started the Instagram focused on food,” says Rae, referring to her alternate @raelilfood page. She also has an Instagram for her musical interests in addition to her main one. “So I was like, ‘OK, let’s start YouTube so that I can make some money and then I can eat at the same time.’
The just-turned 26-year-old native of Osaka, Japan, has created one of adult’s most dynamic brands in the past five years just by being herself.
By sharing her interests in heavy metal concerts, cuisine, exploring a new city and sometimes adult content, Rae has built a strong rapport with her fans without trying too hard.
“I don’t think much, let’s just do,” she says. “Let’s see what’s gonna happen.”
