“That’s just who I am. It’s my truth ... giving love...”
One of the key things to know about Leana Lovings, to paraphrase the venerable Wayne Campbell, is that her chosen porn name is not just a clever one.
“That’s just who I am. It’s my truth ... giving love,” the diminutive East Coaster earnestly professes. “I decided that in everything I do, it was going to be loving first and always.”
At the same time, while we’re referencing Wayne’s World, the fact of the matter is that if there’s any beloved screen character to whom Lovings bears a distinct similarity, it’s Wayne’s sidekick Garth—at least by way of the soft-spoken impishness and, of course, those signature glasses. OK, so let’s say if Garth had a quietly hot sister ... dead on.
“This was something that was never intentional, but it’s something that I have been grateful for at times,” she says of her emblematic square-frames. “This was actually a movement developed by my fans. It started whenever I would be on stream—of course I need my glasses to see—so someone would say, ‘Hey, can I tip for you to take your glasses off?’ And someone else would immediately counter-tip for me to put my glasses back on. They would say, ‘You’re beautiful, don’t ever take your glasses off, you’re lovely just the way you are.’ And that is where it began.”
To back up, it may or may not surprise anyone to learn that Lovings was raised in, as she terms it, a “megachurch.”
It wasn’t until her 20s that she so much as considered doing anything sexual (she just turned 25). When she went away to college, “I was in for a very rude awakening in terms of what the world actually was,” she imparts. “I was so completely uncomfortable with my body at that stage in my life. I didn’t know how to actually orgasm. I didn’t know how to touch myself.
“So one of the things that I started doing was I formed connections online with people,” she continues, “and I would go into group chats like on Discord or something, and I would turn on a camera in an NSFW server and then I would strip.
“And then someone said, ‘Hey, you know what? You should check out Chaturbate.’”
Fast-forward to the 2020 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, where she was camming at the Chaturbate booth, and she met talent agent Brian Berke of AMA Modeling, who suggested to her that she give studio porn a try.
“I really took in what he had to say, and I said, ‘You know what? I’m gonna think about it,” she relates. “And a year and a half later, I said, ‘I’m ready. I’m gonna go into the adult industry. I feel like I am prepared for this experience.’”
