It’s a trope as old as porn that girls will jump into the business for some quick cash when saddled with the
burdensome likes of an unexpected hospital bill—and to a certain degree, April Olsen’s story fits that narrative.
Yes, there was a hospital bill to pay, but in her case, it was of a sort one might be tempted to almost call
“serendipitous.”
“I had a sex-related injury,” the Missouri native discloses. “I had to go to the ER, didn’t have health insurance, so
I started webcamming. ... It was great. That’s where I first learned about sex work. It was an amazing experience.
I made the most money I’ve ever made in my life, saved it, and then. ... I’ve always fantasized about moving to
New York, so I was able to do that.”
Having of course long since healed up and moved on, Olsen relocated to L.A. last February and soon signed
on with the esteemed Spiegler Girls agency.
As for her career plans, Olsen has things uncommonly mapped out: “Performing-wise, I have a five-year plan,”
she says matter-of-factly. “I want to get it all out within those five years.
“Afterwards, of course I’m open to whatever experience, opportunity comes my way,” she continues. “But I
would love to direct, I would love to produce. Could be in the mainstream field, could be adult. I’m open to truly
anything. I feel like I can do anything.”
