She may be new to porn, but Kayley Gunner is confident
that a direct message she received on Twitter recently
was unlike any ever sent to a performer.
“Sergeant,” it read, “is that really you?”
Indeed, while her colleagues and fans in adult have
grown accustomed to seeing her nude, there’s a sect
of soldiers in Hawaii that still remember Gunner in
camouflage. That’s because Gunner spent five years
in the army before leaving in 2020 to pursue a career in
porn.
Gunner’s stage name is actually an ode to her military
career, as she was known in the army as a machine gun
specialist.
“Sometimes I still miss it,” Gunner, who was stationed
in Kauai, says. “It’s not everyday that you can shoot a
machine gun in the civilian world. It’s scary at first, but
once you get used to it, it’s a powerful feeling.”
Gunner has plenty of reason to walk with a swagger
in her new line of work, too. The buxom 24-year-old has
been in high demand since entering the industry a year
ago. She’s shot nearly 70 scenes for high-profile studios
such as Brazzers, Blacked and Cherry Pimps.
Even though she spent five years in the army—following
the path of her parents—Gunner said there were always
indicators she’d end up in the adult industry. In high
school she was a diehard fan of the TV show “The Girls
Next Door” and went so far as to contact Playboy to
inquire about becoming a bunny.
“They told me I needed to turn 18 first,” Gunner says
with a laugh.
