CELEBRITIES
WHO WERE STRIPPERS
≠ STORY: ANKA RADAKOVICH
It’s no secret that singer Cardi B and actor Channing
Tatum were strippers in a former life, but most people
don’t know some of the other famous people who shook
their moneymakers before they started making big money.
What’s interesting about stripping is that the mainstream
world seems to really look down on the job, more so than
for people who are porn stars. But the celebrities on this
list have no shame discussing their brief brushes with
stripping, and some credit their jiggling “day job” for their
success today.
Brad Pitt
During college Brad Pitt was part of a male stripper
troupe called “The Dancing Bares.” Consisting of seven
fraternity brothers at the University of Missouri, they
entertained at bachelorette and sorority parties—girls
who probably wish now they would have taken bare
chested g-string selfies with him back then.
Pitt has revealed that his career trajectory included
delivering refrigerators and “dressing up as a chicken
for a restaurant opening,” so taking off his clothes for a
bunch of drunk, screaming girls was a step up.
After college, he worked as a driver for female strippers
who called themselves “Women of the Pole,” driving them
to various gigs, collecting the money, providing security,
and hoping they made it out safe with their clothes on. But
it was one of the girls who inadvertently changed his life.
“This girl, I’d never met her before,” Pitt told Buzzfeed.
com, “was in an acting class taught by a man named Roy
London, a famous acting coach. I went and checked it
out, and it really set me on the path to where I am now.
That stripper changed my life.”
