Grief may not be the typical
aphrodisiac, but it certainly intensifies
human interactions. Brad
Armstrong uses that intensity well in
Lost Love, which features five one-
on-one sex scenes and two solos,
each deepened by highly personal
modes of mourning.
The moody picture centers
around a tour-de-force performance
by Jessica Drake as Beth, who’s
grieving the loss of her husband
(Ryan Driller). We watch Beth as she
tries to work through her emotions,
sitting in wordlessly on group
counseling sessions and finding
solace in the company of two other
bereaved souls (Jessie Lee and
Small Hands).
Armstrong offers a supernatural
twist at the end that will satisfy
his longtime fans, who will also
appreciate the quality of the
production. Gorgeous cinematography,
meticulous art direction
and a hypnotic soundtrack add to
good acting all around—particularly
from Drake and veteran non-sex
performer Frank Bukkwyd as the
grief counselor.
