Daya Knight started in adult in 2016, at age 19. “I noticed that
a lot of my favorite performers had agents in their bios. I made
a few contacts and came to L.A. from Oakland a couple of days
later. I told myself if I don’t like it, I’ll do my first scene, cut my
losses, go back home and pretend like nothing ever happened.
But I liked it. I kept coming back to L.A. and eventually moved
here.”
She likes that working as a performer lets her express her
sexuality. “You tell a civilian guy that you want to be blindfolded
and whipped or something, some of them will go running for the
hills or think you’re some sex-crazy deviant. Some will be into it.
I have more room to express myself. Also, I get feedback from
fans. That fuels me.”
Her favorite scenes so far include a Hard X scene with Markus
Dupree. “I had been wanting to work with Mason for so long so
I was super excited when I showed up. She focuses a lot on the
girls. The scene was really intense and hardcore. A lot of my
scenes aren’t hardcore, so I enjoyed being able to do something
different.”
Another favorite was for ArchAngel’s Black Romance with Isiah
Maxwell. “I like shooting with him so much. I don’t shoot with a lot
of black talent, so when I do I get super excited. Isiah is one of
my favorites and the scene was so cool. He fed me strawberries,
I was blindfolded, it was very romantic. I’d like to get booked with
more black guys, but they tell me interracial is the thing right now.
And then I get backlash from some fans: ‘You don’t like your own
people.’ The black male performers get it, too. It makes me feel
bad, like I’m doing something wrong. But I go where they book
me. You need to tell your favorite directors what you want to see.”
