family can’t possibly keep it together long. To top
it off, a snowstorm traps everyone together. David
Lord plays the drunken father who brings home
Auntie’s gold-digging ex-lover (Charlotte Stokely),
and Aiden Ashley is their daughter.
“Charlotte and Aiden watched a couple of John
Waters movies two days before they shoot this
movie,” Greenwood says. “Charlotte asked, ‘Do
you want me to do a sex scene the same as John
Waters?’ And I said, ‘No I want them to be kind of
sexy, not over the top.” But there are some crazy
moments, including references to foot fetishes,
eggs and a nod to the “Not on Christmas” scene
from Female Trouble.
St. James is offering fans the next volume in
her Family Holiday series, and apparently the
third time is the charm. “Every year I’ve shot a
Christmas movie it was hell—until this year,” the
director says. “It is a lot of wrangling of talent, a lot
of wardrobes and props. … Basically it’s a game
of trying to re-create the magic of Christmas as
frugally as possible.”
This year, however, “was lovely” and she calls
Family Holiday 3 her best holiday movie yet. “The
talent were so focused and prepared. We all had
fun decorating the tree before the shoot. There
was a lot of laughter and just a general ‘family’
vibe among everyone.” Plus, she adds, adult
director (and famed curmudgeon) Mike Quasar
shot camera, “and nothing screams ‘the holidays’
like having your crazy uncle along for the ride.”
