Luna Lain: Second-Generation Hippie
Growing up, Luna Lain had her eyes on the skies.
“My original interest was being an astronaut, or
working in particle physics, but college was not on
the table for a variety of reasons, so I realized that
porn and fetish and nude modeling were my most
profitable options given no college. I grew up in a
hippie household so I love being naked. I think human
sexuality is a beautiful thing. It just sort of happened,
and I love it.”
It “sort of happened” because she had been
modeling “on and off” starting at age 15, and “as
happens to a lot of models, I started getting more
erotic/explicit requests—and taking them—and
eventually started getting offered porn shoots and I
thought, ‘Yeah. That sounds great.’” She started doing
fetish shoots (“I’ve also been a pro Domme for several
years, that’s another extension of this.”) and shot her
first g/g scene with Alex Harper. “It was a lot of fun. I
really like Alex; she’s very nice. It was almost exactly
what I expected. It wasn’t the first time I’d had sex
with a woman. Someone was filming it, and that’s
fine, and we’re wearing odd outfits, and that’s fine.”
Before “it happened,” Lain had been working in
IT: “Basically, hacking. Legal hacking, on a defensive
level. Hacking client sites to see where their security
vulnerabilities might be. Very interesting, I got to
stay up-to-date on a lot of secret info about the tech
world. But the management was gawd-awful, so I
left.” She grew up in San Francisco (and she still lives
San Francisco-adjacent) and describes it as “Very
interesting. Very busy, very multicultural. A lot of
hippies, that had hippie parents. I had hippie parents.”
She doesn’t have a dream scene or co-star in mind
(and working g/g-only eliminates half the field) but
“if it involves a cute girl I’m probably pretty excited
about it. I’m trying to think if there’s anyone that I’ve
really, really got a hankering to go down on, but I’m
having a hard time putting my finger on one specific
person.” She likes the people she’s met in the adult
industry. “Kink, fetish and porn all have really good
people in them, I feel, much more so than the outside
world. You have to have chosen to be in this industry;
it’s not like the industry chooses you. It’s intentional,
and I enjoy that ... I like cute girls.”
Her home menagerie includes two cats and three
rats (“The cats are terrified of the rats, because the
rats bite them. I have one little attack rat, and the cats
learn quick not to mess with the rats”) plus chickens
and ducks (“They’re kind of young but they should
start laying eggs any day now”).
