WHO’S WHO
Kendra Sunderland discusses her rapid rise
(Continued from page 42)
“It was definitely life-changing. It took our
relationship to a completely different level that we
never expected working for Greg.”
Now the Arizona native and former line cook
has also become a regular part of Lansky’s
production crew, doing behind-the-scenes
videography and still photos.
Speaking of the crew, when Sunderland isn’t
shooting she has a significant role with Lansky’s
social media presence, posting photos and
videos on the official Vixen Instagram from the
monthly Vixen Angel ceremonies and exclusive
photoshoots.
In January, she will be signing at Lansky’s
booth at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in
Las Vegas.
“I’m almost done being Vixen Angel of the
Year,” Sunderland says. “I’m going to have to give
it to someone else. But I’m still the first one so it
means a lot to me.
“I got into porn with the best. Everything he
does is so classy and high quality so I’m happy
that I went that way instead of a different way.”
So are her co-stars.
Isiah Maxwell, who performed with Sunderland
in Kendra’s Obsession, calls her “very special.”
“Her best is yet to come,” Maxwell says. “Each
project she gets better and I’m ecstatic to have a
part in her growth. She is drop-dead gorgeous and
will be a standout figure in this industry.”
Veteran stud Jason Brown agrees.
“She’s one of my favorite people to work
with because not only is she gorgeous but she’s
attentive,” Brown tells AVN. “She’s completely
in the zone in scenes. She genuinely loves sex
and embraces her sexuality. I met her before she
got into the biz and to see how’s she’s grown is
simply a sight to see.”
When her Vixen contract is finished Sunderland
says she has no plans to hire an agent and begin
shooting for other studios.
“I was never was planning on shooting with
other companies, just with girls for their sites,”
she says. “I feel like I probably have at least one
more year collaborating with other girls. I never
wanted to be in for the long run.”
Last week she even teased the idea on Twitter
of making the final sex scene of her career her
first anal for Tushy.
“I wanted to see how people would react,”
Sunderland says. “I am thinking about finishing
with that to kind of go out with a bang.”
Kay Brandt tells tales for Adam & Eve

“I ended up really liking it,” she says. “It really reminded me of doing theater.
It was these little one-act plays. That’s how I looked at Girlfriends Films. The
vignettes were one-act plays and I could make these crazy little stories.”
Brandt followed up her time there with a stint at Metro, where she produced six
movies.
And after that came her highest-profile work: directing two all-girl movies for
Digital Playground: Cherry and Cherry 2. Both movies were nominated for several
AVN Awards, and Cherry 2 won for both Best All-Girl Release and Best All-Girl
Group Sex Scene. And Brandt notes that while with Digital Playground, she also
wrote about 20 titles for Robby D.
After a couple of movies for New Sensations, Brandt took a break from adult

production, but she kept busy writing erotic novels—which led to
her latest adult adventure when Adam & Eve Pictures hired her
to direct a movie based on Safe Landings. A moody drama about
a flight attendant who becomes emotionally attached to another
passenger after they both survive a deadly crash, Safe Landings
came out in 2015.
Next she helmed an even bigger project for Adam & Eve:
adapting the Selena Kitt novel Babysitting the Baumgartners.
Though Brandt says “it’s easier to make an adaptation of
somebody else’s book rather than my own,” the production
itself was huge. She tackled fourteen sex scenes and fifty pages
of dialogue in four days. And this year Adam & Eve released
the sequel, Adventures with the Baumgartners, which followed up on the
stories of the four original characters—Mr. and Mrs. Baumgartner (Anikka Albrite
and Mick Blue) and their two nannies (Sara Luvv and AJ Applegate)—but added
a lot of emotional complexity with other story lines. Again, Brandt directed and
penned the screenplay—and this time the book was released at the same time as
the movie.
In between Brandt tackled something completely different, also for Adam &
Eve: the quirky Forked. The premise is that several individuals have been invited
to a dinner party, at which they will cook and present their own dishes. And the
pleasures of cooking and eating lead to other sensual adventures.
“It’s fresh as hell,” she says.
In December, Brandt’s latest was released by Adam & Eve: Hotwives and Their
Dirty Desires, starring Mercedes Carrera, Sarah Vandella and Nina Elle. Like Naked
and Safe Landings, it’s based on one of her own books.
“Singlehandedly I’m creating a genre,” Brandt said, laughing.
“Kay showcases the very sensual and secret lives of wealthy women in an erotic
take on the Real Housewives franchise in her newest film,” Adam & Eve executive
producer Rachel Vigneaux said. “The direction and pacing are fantastic and what
we’ve come to expect from Brandt.”
Brandt said the movie is based on her novelette series “about a very naughty
dating agency run by Ms. K (a role I cast myself in) which connects older, wealthy,
confident women with eager young men willing to fulfill their dirtiest desires. The
cast did an exceptional job bringing the first story in my erotic book series to life,
and I can’t wait for viewers to see just how intense the sexual chemistry is in the
film.”
