AVN Media Network brings
back ceremony in January 2018
AVN Media Network is bringing back the GayVN
Awards, which recognize outstanding achievement
in the gay DVD and online realms.
Set to take place in January as part of
GayVN@Internext, the 2018 GayVN Awards will
honor releases in a number of categories. Also, for
the first time in GayVN Award history, there will be
categories voted on by fans.
“We’re very excited to bring back the GayVN
Awards,” said Tony Rios, CEO of AVN Media
Network. “And we wanted to bring them back in a
big way. Getting not only the industry but also the
fans of the movies and performers will make the
GayVN Awards a must-attend event.”
Much like its counterpart, the AVN Awards, the
GayVN Awards will recognize performers, scenes
and movies from the previous year. Content
released between October 1, 2016, and September
30, 2017, will be eligible for consideration.
In past years, the GayVN Awards have drawn the
biggest names in the industry, as well as top-notch
celebrities, including Alec Mapa, Bruce Vilanch and
Kathy Griffin.

NakedSword FilmWorks
VOD site offers ‘Peter De Rome: Grandfather of Gay Porn’
NakedSword Film Works (NSFW) has added Peter De Rome: Grandfather of Gay Porn, a
documentary by Ethan Reid, to its online library. Reid’s doc tells the story of an
Englishman who became known as a gay porn progenitor, recounting his life in the early
’60s, when he filmed friends and random hook-ups, and into the ’70s, when he shot his
first real gay porn film.
De Rome went on to inspire a generation of gay adult filmmakers, and ultimately went
on to be accepted into the British Film Institute for its cultural impact.
In honor of Peter De Rome: Grandfather of Gay Porn entering the NakedSword Film
Works library, NakedSword is also adding two of De Rome’s films: Adam & Yves (1974)
and The Destroying Angel (1976).
Said Tim Valenti, president of Falcon Studios and the NakedSword network, “I’m happy
we have this film in the NakedSword Film Works library because I think it’s so important,
now more than ever, to be conscious of the fact that we were not always afforded the
freedoms we have now. Peter De Rome was a pioneer and trailblazer in our industry and
