BobsTGirls.com scenes back on DVD after long hiatus

as a professional shooter before he fell into the adult industry. A military man who
later became an aerospace engineer, he pursued photography only as a hobby.
“How I got into this was, I used to look at pictures on the news groups—
honestly, just a horny guy looking for whacking material—and one day I found
a photo of Geneva … with the Shemale Yum logo on it. So it made me curious
enough to join the site. I looked for more of Geneva and couldn’t find it, so I sent
an email to the webmaster, who turned out to be Steven [Grooby], and said, ‘Do
you have any more photos of this girl?’ And he writes back and said, ‘No, but if
you do I’ll pay you for them.’ A light went on in my head.”
That was in 1998. Next thing he knew, Maverick was doing a shoot with
Geneva’s twin sister, Gina (the two, known as the transsexual twins, were at
one point under contract to Devil’s Film). Maverick was also friendly with other
transsexual performers, so shoots with them followed—including contract stars
Kimberly Devine and Meghan Chavalier. In June of 1999, he launched
BobsTgirls.com.
Most of the scenes on the site are solos, though Maverick has shot hardcore
when “it’s something special—people who want to be together, or girls bring me
their boyfriends. I had one model who brought in a boyfriend and they said, ‘We
want you to document our lovemaking on your website.’ That was for one of my
DVDs when I had the line back in the day, but unfortunately they were broken up
before the DVD was released.”
In terms of how things have changed since the late ’90s, Maverick brings up the
good and the bad.
“Business wise, we all know that the golden age of online porn and even DVD
porn is unfortunately behind us, with the piracy and all of that stuff going on. So
it’s very difficult now to even get enough revenue to keep it going. But as far as
the models go, it’s actually more enjoyable now to shoot.”
Back then, he recalled, “the girls were skeptical because the whole concept of
websites was a new thing” and many worked reluctantly only when they needed
cash. “Nowadays the general theme is that the models who are shooting are doing
it because they really enjoy it. And that’s what makes it more fun for me as a
photographer. It’s not some girl coming in, ‘OK, let’s get this over with so I can
take my money and get out of here.’ Now it’s, ‘Let’s do something fun! What can
we do here?’ So I end up getting to be more creative.”
“Often creativity comes more with subsequent shoots,” he noted, pointing out
as an example his work with Natassia Dreams, starting more than a decade ago.
“If you compare what we shot in 2005 to what we shot in the past year, you’ll see
a very stark change. We got crazy and funny—and kinkier.”
Now, with more girls visiting Los Angeles regularly, Maverick no longer needs
to travel like he once did. And instead of finding models in nightclubs, he finds
them on social media. Models often travel to Southern California, where they can
work with him as well as other shooters, such as Buddy Wood and Blackula, two
other familiar names in the local scene.
“I know there are some producers out there who snatch up models and try to
dissuade them from shooting with anybody else, but that’s ridiculous. If a model
wants to make a living, she’s got to work with other people. I just figure each of us
photographers put our own look and feel on a model. That provides more variety
for the fans.”

HITTING THE STREET THIS WEEK is a new title from Grooby that marks a milestone.
For the first time in several years, director Bob Maverick—the man behind the
BobsTGirls.com membership site—is releasing some of his online content on
DVD. Titled Bob’s TGirls and Their Fucking Machines, this title offers something a
little different from Tgirl Fantasies 14, his last release, which came out in 2009.
Maverick said, “I occasionally shoot a girl with a fucking machine for my website.

line out of these!’ And so this is the first one.”

On the subject of the movie that brought him back into the DVD market,
Maverick added that all of the scenes are technically solos, and “the machine

A couple of them are new. Casey Kisses, I think that was my first shoot with her.
… And River Stark, I think that was my first shoot with her. She had told me that
doing a fucking machine was on her bucket list.”
Not all models feel the same way. “I like to shoot girls doing things that they
like. If they like playing with dildos, then they’ll do that. If they don’t like it, we
won’t do it,” Maverick said. “Usually if I bring up the fucking machine I either get
‘I’m scared’ or ‘Yeah, let’s do it!’ Either excitement or fear.”
The arrival of the new DVD gave AVN the chance to interview this veteran
shooter of adult transsexual stars. As someone who has been operating his own
site since 1999, he’s seen a lot of changes in the transsexual genre and in the porn
world at large.
Though his earliest stated ambition was to be a Playboy photographer (“That’s
because I found my older brother’s stack of Playboys when I was 5 years old. I
never went through the girls-have-cooties stage.”), Maverick never really worked
