Making Fresh Movies
Making Our
Movies Fresh
and Tasty
by Dan O’Connell
I always approach movie-making
with the thought that if our next
ten movies look like the last ten,
Girlfriends Films fans won’t have
much cause to keep buying them.
Well, it’s a good thing that Moose
has taken over the management
reigns here at Girlfriends because
my mind’s spare moments have
to continually focus on what we
can do different for the ever im-
minent “Next Ten.”
With Girlfriends Films closing in
on its 600th girl/girl movie and
having personally shot close to
2,500 of those scenes, I’ve never
used the same story twice. Fortu-
nately, I’ve found that exercising
one’s creativity is a bit like prac-
ticing anything over and over…
the creative process becomes
more proficient. On the other
hand, the pile of stories we’ve al-
ready used and now have to avoid
keeps growing.
This past month I shot two mov-
ies that fit into our existing movie
series and, I believe are pioneering
concepts not just for GFF but the
industry, as well.
“Drone”, which fits nicely into
Girlfriends Films’ Lesbian Tri-
angles series, starts out with two
young girls finding a toy drone
that flew away and lost itself in the

Saves the Best for
September
James Deen Productions is releasing its
two best movies of the year in September:
“Stockholm Syndrome,” directed by James
Deen, and “All in Your Head,” directed by
Chanel Preston.
Deen is so proud of “Stockholm Syn-
drome,” a movie about a kidnapped woman
who falls for her abductor, that he invited
AVN Editor Peter
Warren over for an advanced private screen-
ing. “‘Stockholm Syndrome’ has a movie-
maker’s aesthetic that’s on another level
from a great majority of what
comes out of adult…A major accomplish-
ment in James Deen’s career,” wrote War-
ren.
“All in Your Head,” the beautiful
vignette film from Chanel Preston, has Deen
even more excited than his own films. “It’s
one of the greatest movies I’ve ever seen,
and definitely the best one Chanel has pro-
duced and directed,” said Deen. “It’s so
good that it makes all the movies I’ve done
look bad.”
Both movies release this September from
Girlfriends Films.
