Talking porn and comedy with Silvia Saige
the years, starting with the mother of all adult
Comedy and porn have gone hand in hand over
films, Deep Throat, and followed by what many
consider the greatest adult film ever produced,
The Opening of Misty Beethoven. And the many
adult performers who have entered the industry with a
comedy background or have gone on to pursue stand-
up—notably Tommy Pistol, Ron Jeremy, Evan Stone
and Rebecca Bardoux—also highlights the relationship
between comedy and porn. Adult performer Silvia Saige
is another performer out to prove she can tickle not only
funny bones but also libidos.
“I’ve been doing it for about two and a half years,”
said Saige, who worked for more than eight years in the
medical field as an X-ray technician. When Saige realized
she wanted more out of her small Midwestern town life,
she made the move to the West Coast to pursue her
dream of doing stand-up. “I said, ‘Fuck it. I’m going to go
for it.’ I kind of had to take a leap of faith and leave a lot
behind, and take some bigger risks.”
Now living in Las Vegas, Saige performs at many of
the local clubs and also regularly at the Ontario Improv
in Ontario, California. As for how porn came into the
mix, Saige says it was strictly a financial decision. “Really
money, to be honest. I had a girlfriend [who] started
doing porn and she loved it. She made great money and I
thought, ‘Well hell. I could do that.’ I was working all the
time out in L.A. to make ends meet and I was working so
much I wasn’t doing comedy. I didn’t have the time for it,
I guess.” With the money Saige was earning in porn, she
was able to devote more time to her comedy and currently
performs stand-up under her stage name, Silvia Saige.
While IAFD currently has just one performing credit
for Saige as of this writing, she already has shot for
powerhouse studios such as Brazzers, Naughty America,
Bang Bros. and Porn Pros. She also has an upcoming
appearance in an HBO film, Wicked Needs, set to be
released later this year. Pretty impressive stats for
someone who had no intention of entering porn. “It was
never something I thought about. [Laughs] I think you
have those general thoughts about porn, but never would
I have thought a year ago that I was going to be doing
porn. It was never a thought of mine.”
Saige describes her act as shocking, sexual, and twisted
in a good way. She counts Amy Schumer as a comedy
hero who has paved the way for women to go a little
darker and edgier, Saige also intends on sticking around
with porn for a while. “Maybe get my shot at hosting the
AVN Awards and then go after chasing comedy. Tie it all
together and maybe you’ll see me on Saturday Night Live
one day. Anything that I can try and points me in a new
direction, that’s the way I’m going.”

Anna Bell Peaks Does the Math
Anna Bell Peaks is not your average newbie adult performer. While the 33-year-old former CPA
turned cam girl turned porn performer dreams of stardom and winning awards, one of her more
ambitious goals is to serve as representative for the adult industry she has come to love. “If you want
a spokeswoman for the porn industry, and you want it to be somebody who has nothing but positive
things to say about it, then that’s me.”
Peaks’ original career goal was to be an accountant, a job Peaks says she would still be doing—but
the numbers told her porn would be more lucrative. Still, Peaks hopes her mathematical talents can
be used as an asset in the industry one day. “When I’m old and ugly and they can longer use me I’ll
probably be a CPA, probably a CPA for porn stars because they need a lot of help with their taxes. I
really did love that job. I’m just a very sexual person.”
Since entering the industry this past January, Peaks has already established a strong fan base both
on DVD and in the cam world—specifically My Free Cams, where Peaks continue to cam from her
home in the East Coast. She earned respect from critics by taking on Lexington Steele in her debut
scene in Evil Angel’s Tattooed Vixens. To date, Peaks has shot for a variety of powerhouse studios,
including Brazzers, Naughty America, New Sensations, Hustler, Bang Bros. and Burning Angel.
Describing herself as a people pleaser, Peaks feels that has been a big part of her success, as well
as her work ethic. “I’m driven, I’m a hard worker, and I love what I do. I am a very goal-oriented
individual. That’s how I became what I was in the accounting world; it’s what I’m going to do in the
porn world. I don’t want to be second in awards. I want to win Best New Starlet at the AVN’s. I’ll do
everything I can to get in front of the right people, meet the right people and do the best scenes that
I can.”
Entering the adult industry later in life than most, she has no regrets. “I love every second of the
industry, every person in it. It has been a wonderful career, a wonderful voyage.”
