Travel ... It’s a Trip Appointment with the NURSE
The AVN staff saw its share of the desert in spring this year while attending The Phoenix
Forum and the International Lingerie Show. Not that we glimpsed much of the natural
landscape in, respectively, Arizona and Las Vegas. But we did our share of traveling.
All this motion got senior editor Sherri L. Shaulis fired up. Keeping the momentum
going on the 30-point lists we’ve been making in honor of AVN’s 30th anniversary, she
came up with a well-rounded collection of toys and sensual delights worth stocking and
recommending to customers who are planning a vacation or weekend getaway. And just
for good measure, she came up with some travel-themed movies—from the Golden Age
to the present—that are set in an exotic location or based on some mode of transport.

But there’s one photo you won’t see—because it’s a product that’s not on the market yet.
At ILS I met inventor Ron Brown, there to drum up interest about his new NURSE sys-
tem, which has just received U.S. Patent No. 8,382,656. What does NURSE stand for?
Neoteric Universal Respiring Semen Ejaculator. And what does that mean? He has created
a device, usable by any man, that can elicit ejaculation from even a flaccid penis, using
the principles of Boyle’s Law (“the product of the pressure and volume for a gas is a con-
stant for a fixed amount of gas at a fixed temperature”—and yes, we had to look that up).
That’s the theory. In practice, Brown did a demo in his hotel suite—using Fleshlight’s
Mr. Limpy, I hasten to add. First he asked rhetorically if I’d ever tried to push on a rope.
“You can’t push on a rope,” he answered. “Well, the NURSE can.” And he proceeded,
using a little Astroglide, to slide Mr. Limpy neatly into a snug yet flexible ring at the top
of what looked like a cross between a water bottle and a penis pump. But unlike a pump,
which draws blood into the penis to enlarge it but doesn’t allow any sliding motion, the
NURSE can be moved up and down the flaccid shaft to simulate intercourse—eventually
resulting in ejaculation even without erection. Though Mr. Limpy couldn’t produce the
desired effect, Brown assured me that the NURSE works. He spoke passionately about
what this will mean to the millions of American men with some form of erectile dysfunc-
tion. And for those without ED, the NURSE can start with a flaccid penis and speed up
the process of achieving an erection.
Thing is, at age 70 he’s not looking to start a new company. Instead, he needs a manu-
facturer to partner with him and bring the NURSE to market. He envisions that the
device would come with six rings of different sizes, to ensure a comfortable fit, and he’s
also working on a mechanized model. Still in the exploratory phase, he is speaking to
experts in the field, including therapist Ava Cadell, who’s already seen the demo.
I don’t know anything about Boyle’s Law, or patent law, but I do know there’s nothing
quite like this on the market. And bottom line, when he builds it, they will come.
Probably by the millions. And that’s the whole point, isn’t it?
