ost AVN Awards categories are designed to recognize one piece of work: a sexual performance, an acting turn, a script, a directorial outing.
But the Performer of the Year categories—male, female, MILF and transsexual—reward the entire output of a particular individual.
At any point in the past, BBW performers were ostensibly able to compete for Female Performer of the Year honors, but in reality the race
would be uneven, given the vastly more numerous opportunities for standard-issue adult performers—meaning those who are young, slender
and conventionally pretty. Fans of adult entertainment, however, will agree that there are many other performers—older, larger and edgier
than these cultural norms—doing great work and deserving of recognition.
As AVN has done in recent years, when it added transsexual and MILF performer categories, we believe it’s time to include another category in the
Performer of the Year grouping. Below you’ll find the 2014 nominees for AVN’s brand-new BBW Performer of the Year award.
