AVN Brings ‘GAYVN @ Internext’ Back to Vegas in January
AVN Media Network is bringing GAYVN @ Internext back! The webmaster event targeting
the online gay community will join this January’s exceptional lineup of adult entertain-
ment fan and trade events at the world-famous Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las
and parties that meets their specific needs. Our sole goal with GAYVN @ Internext is to
provide these companies and attendees with a trade event that is all theirs.”
The seminar schedule created for GAYVN @ Internext starts with “Gay Home Room
Vegas. The “show-within-a show” will run concurrent with Internext, which takes place
January 11-14, 2014, and will feature a full slate of networking and educational events,
as well as a bevy of entertainment options for attendees and sponsors of GAYVN @
Internext, and an entire exclusive floor in the venue hotel.
“AVN is both pleased and proud to offer GAYVN @ Internext this January,” said
AVN Media Network CEO Theo Sapoutzis. “There has been a serious dearth of trade
events in recent years where gay online companies could organize a schedule of events
101,” which will help people plan for and navigate the busy show, as well as introduce
them to representatives from major sectors of the industry. Additional seminars taking
place over the next two days will include “Blogs/Affliates/Content: The New New,”
“Making $$$ in Gay Online Porn” and “Gay versus Straight: What’s the Difference?”
The full schedule is available at Internext-expo.com/gayvn.
A few of the other special events being planned for GAYVN @ Internext include the
following:
• Gay speed networking • Gay Lounge • Late night hook up lounge • Gay offsite parties

Caryn Goldberg, Veteran Magazine Publisher, Passes
Caryn Goldberg, 60, a veteran publisher of gay male erotica,
has died. AVN learned of the sad news from Colt Studio Group
owner John Rutherford, who forwarded on the following
announcement on behalf of Caryn
’s wife, Jane Lloyd:
“It is with a heavy heart that we report that at 11:47am
PDT [on October 30] we lost one of our most iconic leaders
who I really liked and I got to know ... it was nothing like I
expected.”
In 2000, after five years serving as publisher for the
magazines at Liberation Publications Inc., Goldberg was
offered the top job at Specialty Publications when LPI decided
to spin off its adult lines into this separate entityAt the same
time the company started to develop its own websites—
Menmagazine.net, Freshmen.com and BuyGay.com—and a
video production company, Unzipped Videos.
Once Specialty Publications was sold again, Caryn and wife
Jane started their own consulting company, Minds Over
Matter, and worked with many large players in the industry
such as Zinio, UndercoverMags.com, and Skinmagz.com.
“She left her indelible stamp on the gay porn industry in
that she got the major players to all work together in the early
days of internet porn,” Lloyd said. “Caryn was very proud to
in the all-male industry. Caryn Goldberg, 60, originally from
Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully and quickly at
Valley Presbyterian Hospital after fighting a long battle with
ovarian cancer. By her side was her wife, Jane Lloyd (20 years
together), and close friends.”
Those who knew her well called her “The Feminist
Lesbian Rises to the Top of the Gay Porn World.”
Lloyd explained that Goldberg’s journey started in the
’70s, when she marched against pornography as a feminist.
Years later, however, Goldberg ended up as the president and
ADUL T WHO’S WHO
publisher of Specialty Publications, the multimedia company
that was home to the most successful gay consumer maga-
zines, popular websites and movies.
In 1993, Goldberg started to sell ads for the Advocate and
then Men (the flagship magazine started in 1984), Freshmen
(the younger-themed success that started in 1991) and Classifieds, which had
morphed into Unzipped magazine. Goldberg later had this to say about her tenure at
Specialty Publications, “Well, I met the most amazing people in the all-male industry
have known some of the most well-know industry leaders up-
close and personally. She will be missed for her tough business
style and her incredible negotiating savvy.”
“I just made a deal with Caryn Goldberg!” began a
common refrain in the industry, followed by the rejoinder:
“Oh really, do you still have your socks on?”
In lieu of flowers, donations will be appreciated in Goldberg’s name to the United
States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
