Every month in the pages of this magazine, we
spend a lot of time focusing on the products that
retailers put on their shelves or sell on their
websites, an endeavor that by necessity shines
the spotlight in two different arenas: on the perform-
ers and directors who create adult content, and the
owners of companies who manufacture DVDs and
toys.
But the adult industry employs many more types
of individuals than that. Camera operators, pro-
duction managers, warehouse supervisors,
account executives, marketing directors,
accountants, logisticians, shipping clerks, store
managers, affiliate managers, webmasters—an
army of workers labors behind the scenes to keep
the industry’s economic engine chugging along.
For this issue we chatted with a few of the folks
we’ve met on trade show floors, business trips and
parties, and found out a little about them—how they
got started, and what other things they’ve done. Many
of these faces will be familiar to those who have
attended porn conventions, webmaster gatherings or
novelty shows. We’re hoping that, like us, you’re curious
to learn a little bit more about them.
