“Want to create your own ‘Red Room
of Pain’ at home and live out your
favorite Fifty Shades fantasies like
Anastasia and Christian?” the blog read.
“The multi-award-winning Fetish
Fantasy Series has you covered with a
large variety of BDSM essentials priced
for the beginner.”
Everything from bondage tape to
bondage rope to cuffs and tethers and
nipple clamps were suggested to women
and couples.
Pipedream’s distributors took the
opportunity for more sales to heart.
Eldorado, for one, collaborated with the
manufacturer to offer discounts on
Fetish Fantasy items during the month
of May.
While some in the pleasure products
realm have compared it to the flurry of
buyers that went looking for the
Vibratex Rabbit Pearl after the HBO
series Sex and the City brought the rab-
bit-style vibe into the public conversa-
tion, this time around it seems to have a
broader reach and the potential to bene-
fit a wider variety of adult-themed
businesses.
Even adult studios have been getting
in on the act, with Adult Source Media
announcing plans for a hardcore adapta-
tion of the first novel and Smash Pictures
taking aim at the second book, with
Ryan Driller and Allie Haze as the leads.
Despite some noises about legal

challenges by Fifty Shades’ author, at
press time ASM’s plans were proceeding.
ASM Vice President of Sales John
Amatucci said that it will deliver a
“spot-on take” of Fifty Shades of Grey,
re-creating the sex scenes that have
propelled the book to the top of The
New York Times and Amazon.com best-
seller lists.
“Women throughout the world are
fascinated by Fifty Shades of Grey,” Adult
Source Media President Wendy
Crawford said. “Grey’s appeal is its tradi-
tional Cinderella story of a wealthy,
handsome man who sweeps a young,
innocent beauty off her feet and intro-
duces her to a not-so-innocent world of
BDSM. As in many romance stories,
behind the hero’s domineering veneer
lies an attractive vulnerability that only
an innocent ingénue can perforate,
while he’s simultaneously maneuvering
her emotions as if they were pieces on a
chess board.”
And, as of now, there seems to be no
end in sight for the countless discussions
and press surrounding the trilogies and
their content: In March, it was
announced the film rights had been
secured by Universal Pictures and Focus
Features. Actors such as Ian
Somerhalder and Alexander Skarsgård
have expressed keen interest in the role
of Christian Grey, which means the
buzz could continue for some time.
